DGNB Gold Certification
DGNB certification is an internationally recognized standard for sustainable construction. The system evaluates the overall performance of a building based on criteria such as environmental impact, material selection, energy optimization, and social factors. With a score of over 65, the building has achieved the gold level, highlighting the project’s qualities.
“We are incredibly proud to receive the DGNB Gold certification for our flagship project, Living by ALFA. This is a testament to our ambition to create future-proof homes of the highest quality with a low climate footprint. Living by ALFA, which is a co-living concept based on this property, is an example of how modern architecture, thoughtful material choices, and approach to the environment and life quality can come together in harmony,” Andreea Kaiser, CEO of ALFA Development, says.
“We will now bring all of these experiences from Irmabyen to our new upcoming project in Søborg, where we will build over 400 new homes on 54,000 m² of land,” Andreea Kaiser adds.
Construction with a Low Climate Footprint
The project has achieved an impressive score of 72 out of 100 for its CO2 emissions – significantly above the average for new construction. This is due in part to a compact building structure and an energy-efficient design.
Additionally, the building scores 95 out of 100 for environmentally friendly material sourcing, with over 90% of the wood used coming from sustainable forestry and being FSC certified. The materials have been carefully selected to minimize harmful chemicals and ensure a healthy indoor climate.
Focus on Indoor Climate and Residents' Well-Being
The DGNB system also assesses the social impact of the building, including indoor climate and comfort. Living by ALFA has achieved top marks for thermal comfort with a score of 100 out of 100, ensuring stable temperature conditions year-round. Air quality is also top-notch, with low levels of harmful substances such as formaldehyde and VOCs.
In addition, the project has created outdoor areas with seating and playgrounds, a petanque court, and recreational green spaces that foster community and well-being.
