“Kgs. Lyngby is one of Denmark’s most attractive and dynamic knowledge cities, and we are proud once again to be allowed to contribute to the development of the municipality. The area around Firskovvej has an outstanding location, in the middle of the city, close to the station and with direct access to green recreational areas. This gives us a unique opportunity to create a modern urban district of high quality. We look very much forward to realising the vision in close partnership with Lyngby-Taarbæk Municipality,” Andreea Kaiser, CEO of ALFA Development, says.
A vibrant and diverse urban environment with high-quality housing
For ALFA Development, Firskovvej is a dream project that aligns perfectly with the company’s strategy to create attractive urban environments and housing with the users at the centre. Firskovvej will be ALFA Development’s second project in Lyngby-Taarbæk Municipality, where the company a couple of years ago reported everything sold out in Trongården, a modern and eco-labelled townhouse neighbourhood built about 500 metres east of Firskovvej.
“We have been looking for opportunities in Lyngby-Taarbæk Municipality for a while and are proud that it will be ALFA Development who will develop the truly unique area at Firskovvej. We consider the area as a small gem that gives us every opportunity to create an urban environment and housing of high quality with an eye for solutions that attract both families, singles, students and expats,” says Andreea Kaiser.
“The idea is to create a vibrant and diverse urban environment that matches the city’s strategic position as a strong residential, knowledge and business city close to Copenhagen and close to nature,” says Andreea Kaiser, who hopes that the Firskov project can be the starting point for even more projects in the Lyngby-Taarbæk area.
Both owner-occupied and rental housing
With the purchase of the Firskov site, ALFA Development hopes to be able to develop around 40,000 sqm of building rights, which are primarily expected to be used for a mixed urban area. The final planning of the area will determine the precise number of homes, their sizes and layout, but it is already clear that the area can offer both owner-occupied and rental housing in different sizes and designs.
ALFA Development expects to build to the DGNB Gold standard on the site and will in the coming period, in cooperation with the municipality, explore the possibility of integrating the company’s serviced housing concept – Living by ALFA – into the development plans.
Development starts immediately
ALFA Development is ready to begin right away. The first step is to develop the local development plan in close cooperation with the municipality.
“We look forward to working with the municipality and the neighbours to create the right local plan for the area. This is exactly the type of project we specialise in, where it is about converting an old commercial area into a lively urban environment with a focus on quality of life and quality housing. Lyngby-Taarbæk has a great demand for attractive homes and we look forward to helping create new opportunities for settling in the municipality,” says COO Christian Wæver, who leads land acquisition and development at ALFA Development.
ALFA Development has specialised in converting metropolitan commercial areas into attractive residential areas. In addition to the project in Kgs. Lyngby, the company is currently developing new city districts in Gladsaxe, Copenhagen N and Rødovre, totalling more than 100,000 sqm. In addition, ALFA Development owns approx. 175,000 sqm of land in early development phases and is actively looking for more sites for future district development projects in both Greater Copenhagen and the Aarhus area.
